James Hambro supports charity grant panel
James Hambro & Partners is delighted to have provided practical support to the grant panel of The RAISE Challenge Fund.
The aim of the Fund is to enable significant change to occur in the capability of a voluntary group or charitable organisation in the South East of England. Through issuing grants, the Fund helps groups and organisations to achieve greater results for their local communities, supporting them to grow, develop and overcome barriers.
The Fund is working with the Community Foundation for Surrey as administrator, and in collaboration with the other six Community Foundations in the South East.
Chief Executive of RAISE Katherine Atkinson said: “RAISE is a newcomer to the grant making scene, having been supporting the voluntary sector through practical policy and networking for the last 15 years. We wanted to apply what we knew from the applicants’ perspective to our approach to grant making (a real life example of poacher turned gamekeeper) by developing a new kind of relationship with organisations applying for funds.
“We helped them think though their project aims, challenged their budgets (to reflect the real costs) and encouraged partnership working where that made sense. Some of the grants we have awarded would be considered by many established funders to be too high risk, but we wanted to give opportunity to brand new groups and we offered one-to-one support from the RAISE staff team to these organisations right through the application process. We will continue to work with them during their project to help make sure the grant delivers the maximum benefit for the people with whom they work.”
She added: “RAISE would like to thank James Hambro & Partners for the practical support they provided to the grants panel.”
