Professor Doyne Farmer

How quickly can the world reach carbon neutral? Professor Farmer from the Oxford Martin School at the University of Oxford is an eminent American mathematician and physicist. An early proponent of chaos theory, he used his skills to understand complex markets, founding one of the earliest quant investment firms. Today he is researching the economic impacts of the transition to a low-carbon world and advises several central banks and companies like BP. He will explain why he is so optimistic about the future.

James Evans, Director at Exane BNP Paribas

Hydrogen and the new green economy: James will focus on hydrogen, explaining what it is and why it is likely to form an essential part of the solution in meeting the challenge of net-zero world. James will also consider some of the issues facing governments and industries looking to scale up hydrogen’s role. James started his career in the oil and gas industry before spending the last decade as an energy analyst. His role focuses on strategic research related to the implications of the energy transition and decarbonisation.
