James joined JH&P as Business Development Director in November 2024. He joined with over 9 years’ experience in Investment and Wealth management after working in different roles at Standard Life Investments from fund sales to IFA’s & DFMs. He then worked at M&G Wealth where he was the first person to join the Model Portfolio Service team. He helped launch, develop and distribute the M&G Wealth MPS across North of England & Scotland and his team was industry wide recognised for their support and service to advisers.

Outside of work, James is an ex professional rugby player who played for Border Reivers & Edinburgh. He also played professionally in Italy and New Zealand and captained Scotland at age-grade level. He remains very much into health and fitness and competes in Hybrid fitness competitions which keep his competitive juices going. He is also a keen fair-weather golfer and enjoys a sauna and dip in the North Sea.

James feels inspired by anyone who pushes themselves out of their comfort zone and likes the saying “get comfortable being uncomfortable” which reflects his belief in trying new things and not being afraid of failure. James feels motivated by the culture of JH&P and believes it is the people and their client centric and collaborative team approach that make the business.
