JH&P marks Time to Talk Day
James Hambro & Partners is pleased to be supporting Time to Talk Day 2019 and is organising activities to encourage more open discussion about mental health.
The event, now in its sixth year, is organised by the charity Time to Change to help challenge mental health stigma. Communities around the country are being encouraged to host events where people can talk generally about mental health without fear or prejudice. The charity says that talking helps break down stereotypes, improves relationships, aids recovery and takes the stigma out of mental health.
JH&P, which is a signatory of the Time to Change mental health campaign, is committed to ensuring positive attitudes to mental health welfare in the workplace.
Previously, ahead of World Mental Health Day on 10 October last year, a speaker who had suffered mental health issues at work gave a presentation to staff during a lunchtime session.
Staff also attended compulsory workshop training on mental health in the workplace delivered by the charity, Mind.
Andrew Rice, Head of Finance, said: “Mental health affects all of us – and one in four of us will be formally diagnosed with mental illness at some point in our lives. It is nothing to be ashamed of. We want to play our part in ending the stigma associated with it. Since we committed to Time to Change we have seen staff talking more about how they are feeling and I think we all have a better understanding of mental health and how it affects us and our clients. I think we’re also more appreciative of the important steps we can take to maintain general mental wellbeing and that has to be a good thing.”
